Element Matchups

In the arena, the element of the attacker and the element of the defender change how hard a hit lands. A strong matchup deals 1.5 times damage. A weak one deals half.

There's nothing to memorize: the game shows the matchup on every lane while you build your team, from Super Strong down to Super Weak. This page is just for reference.

The Base Five, in Plain Words

• fire hits harder against earth and air, and weaker against water and void.
• earth hits harder against water and air, and weaker against fire and void.
• water hits harder against fire and void, and weaker against earth and air.
• air hits harder against water and void, and weaker against fire and earth.
• void hits harder against fire and earth, and weaker against water and air.

Notice the loop: every element beats two others and loses to the two that beat it. There's no single best element.

The Chart

The same five matchups as a chart. The attacker reads down the left side. The defender reads across the top. Follow the attacker's row to the defender's column.

Example: find the "Fire attacks" row, then slide over to the "Earth" column: ▲ 1.5x. fire hits earth hard. Now find "Earth attacks" and slide to the "Fire" column: ▼ 0.5x. earth's hits are weak against fire.

Mixed Elements

A mixed element fights like a blend of its two parents: its matchups are the average of both. That softens its weaknesses and its strengths. Magma (fire plus earth) attacking water averages fire's weak 0.5 and earth's strong 1.5 into an even 1.
